Ok, so the post title may be a little melodramatic, certainly my issues are not quite on the same level as those experienced by the astronauts of Apollo 13. However, if I carry on like this I will need a budget of NASA proportions so there is a tenuous link!!
It's old news that I love my gear, it's really old news that I have way too much gear, yet this last week has seen me plumb new depths when it comes to gear acquisition.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that over the last few days I did something I've never done before, I bought a set of equipment predominantly made up of items I already own simply because it was lovely, irresistibly so it would seem.

Leica Meter - Low Light Booster
Leather Carry-all which the original owner has ingeniously altered to hold all these elements with the exception of the OZYXO & PEGOO
Leather Case for the M3
Leica Plastic lens cases
I'd describe the condition as Excellent ++ overall some bits are mint, it's been used but painstakingly looked after for all these years, clearly us Leica shooters aren't much different today than we were in the 1950's!!
Yes, they really did use the pound in NZ back then, if fact the pound was present up until 1967. I've done some calculations and estimate that the PEGOO cost the equivalent of $870.00 in todays money, Leica was never cheap….
So, where to from here….. well in terms of acquisition, I've stopped!! Nothing is coming in now unless its preceded by the departure of something else…. I've thought about this M3 kit a lot over the weekend, I still want to keep it but at the same time I'm thinking the right thing to do is let someone else have it, it would make a perfect kit for someone and ultimately it deserves more use than I will give it, what do you think?
