I have to admit that despite going to all the trouble of creating a darkroom I never really intended to take things quite this far. My first attempts at C41 developing were done with the RONDINAX 35U and whilst they were successful it was a little fiddly, on top of that I felt that in the long term it wouldn't be possible to get a satisfactory level of consistency. Several weeks ago I picked up 50 rolls of AGFA Vista 200, they sell this in Poundland in the UK, funnily enough for a pound a roll!!
Just over two weeks a go we went camping for a weekend, one evening I took a stroll towards the beach, reaching the edge of the dunes I noticed a girl on horseback racing down the beach in my direction, I crouched, framed my shot and waited for horse and rider to enter the scene, at the critical moment I pressed the shutter, or at least I tried to!!!Read More

Much earlier in the year when I travelled to Hawkes Bay (Film Heaven or Hell) I made a decision to take only film cameras. Since then I've fallen back in to the habit of taking a film camera to supplement my digital ones and consequently I've A) Not shot much film and B) tended to shoot an image on film and back it up by shooting it digitally too, just in case........subsequently because of the delay in processing times I've used the digital versions in my posts and made the film shots irrelevant.Read More
